Just 2 hours drive north of Auckland and 12 km west of Whangarei, lies Lake House offering quality B&B accommodation for up to 4 guests in a spectacular lakeside setting on the slopes of Maungatapere Mountain. Lake House makes a perfect base for exploring Northland or provides a welcome stopover on your journey to the far north.

In 2005 we returned to New Zealand after living and working for over 20 years in the UK. As we always enjoyed meeting people during our extensive travels, we decided to design our home as a purpose-built B&B / Homestay. The house is on one level and we specifically designed our Yellow Room to be suitable for disabled guests if required. We furnished the house with our favourite English and European antiques and paintings, a magnificent 17th century tapestry and beautiful porcelain, glass and silver collected by us over the years.

The swimming pool and deck are north-facing and overlook the beautiful lake and native bush alive with bird song. Guests have the use of the house which includes the large sitting room and adjoining dining room where meals are served. Alternatively, meals can be eaten under the covered pergola on the deck.
